Growing a Stronger Future
What andrew stands for
COMMON-SENSE
OVER NONSENSE
As a farmer, small business owner and former Mayor, Andrew seeks to represent the many diverse regions within Dawson. His principles are centred around his steadfast values and commitment to common-sense policies.
Andrew believes that Australians deserve effective, efficient, and properly developed Government policies, which reduce red tape to benefit all Australians.
On top of that, Andrew believes that Governments must look after the people first and foremost, and implement policies that grow a path for a strong, safe, and secure future.
WATER SECURITY
To continue to grow our incredible region, we need good infrastructure and good water security. That’s why Andrew is totally committed to water projects which grow the future of Dawson.
After all, water is the lifeblood of rural and regional Australia.
Andrew is committed to supporting projects which secure water for regional & rural populations and industries, like resources and agriculture.

THE RIGHT
TO FARM
As a third-generation tomato farmer, Andrew knows how important Australian agricultural producers are. This is why, alongside his central pillar of fighting for ‘common-sense over nonsense’, Andrew believes in the inalienable right to farm.
The role of Government is to empower Australians to strive and achieve more, which extends directly to our primary producers.
Without our farmers, Australia stops.
To ensure our farmers can continue to do what they do, Andrew is advocating for less red and green tape, he’s standing up for regionally-based regulation rather than from barking orders from Canberra, and fighting to get Government out of our farmers’ way.
LESS RED AND GREEN TAPE
Life is getting harder and harder for our farmers, who are spending more time wading through piles of paperwork than actually farming.
Andrew understands that farmers work off the land and need it to survive.
Andrew believes that Government green and red tape is only getting in the way of our farmers, and stopping them from doing what they do best; provide food and fibre to Australians right around our nation.
Coming from the horticulture and agriculture industry, and now Dawson’s representative in the Federal Parliament, Andrew is advocating to get Government out of our farmers’ way. After all, our primary producers aren’t accountants.
“ANYONE WHO THINKS FARMERS LET THEIR PRODUCTS RUN DOWN THE DRAIN HASN’T PAID ONE OF THEIR BILLS”
- Andrew Willcox MP
Governments can never formulate good agricultural policy from a carpeted office in Canberra. Andrew believes our primary producers deserve less needless red and green tape, and to be included in the development of regulation for their very industry and their very region.
Andrew understands that when industry, communities, and Government work together, everyone benefits.
That’s why Andrew focuses on taking the perspectives, stories, and experiences of Dawson farmers to Parliament every sitting week; to ensure their voices are heard in Government.
GROWING A STRONGER FUTURE
TOGETHER.
Andrew believes that the Australian Government should ensure our border forces have the tools they need to secure our future. He is a strong advocate for a strong Australian border, while also bolstering our Home Affairs Department to effectively process visas in an appropriate timeframe.
National security also extends past the border, and into regional Australia - specifically onto our paddocks and farms. Biosecurity is national security, which is why Andrew sees it as vitally important to build a border force that protects Australian agriculture and livestock from overseas pests and biosecurity threats, without punishing Australian farmers at home.
It’s for this reason that Andrew is opposing the Albanese Labor Government’s ‘fresh food tax’, in the form of the biosecurity levee, which is charging Australian farmers to secure the Australian border against overseas agricultural threats.
ENERGY SECURITY
Andrew understands that Australia has become a nation where running lights, airconditioning, fans, and anything in between is an unaffordable luxury. That is why Andrew supports common-sense, practical energy policies which focus on ensuring generators from whatever source provide power 24/7.
Andrew is a supporter of all energy options, whether it be coal- or gas-fired, solar, wind, hydro, or nuclear. Andrew believes energy policies must provide businesses and households power that is both reliable and affordable.
For power generated only when the sun shines or when the wind blows, Andrew believes it should be beholden on the provider to make up the shortfall. Otherwise Australia’s energy grid is further destabilised.

JOB SECURITY
Dawson is a powerhouse region that punches above its weight in terms of export earnings and job creation, with the largest sugarcane industry in the nation, nation-leading horticultural and beef production industries, employment hubs in the local METS sector, and more.
Andrew sees these industries, which employ thousands of Australians, as a vital asset that should be supported. Andrew is a firm believer in manufacturing local and buying local.
