LNP COMMITS $500,000 TO THE WHITSUNDAY MARINE INDUSTRY FEASIBILITY GROWTH PLAN
Federal Member for Dawson Andrew Willcox has today announced that an elected Dutton Liberal National Government will invest $500,000 towards a Whitsunday Marine Industry Feasibility Growth Plan.
“For many years, I have been strongly advocating to see a new service facility for Super Yachts and larger vessels in the second boat harbour at Bowen,” Mr Willcox said.
“Bowen has direct access to the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea, which benefits the local Queensland economy and wider Australian economy.
“This would be a game changer providing a huge economical boost and job opportunities for the region, benefitting our local businesses and the hospitality sector.
“The time is now to put Bowen on the world stage, and it has the support of the Whitsunday Regional Council who have backed this proposed growth plan.”
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor, Ry Collins, said this funding commitment is a welcome step forward for Bowen and the broader Whitsunday region.
“A dedicated Super Yacht and Tug Terminal has the potential to unlock significant economic and tourism opportunities, supporting local jobs and industries,” Ms Collin’s said.
“With direct access to the Great Barrier Reef and growing demand for marine servicing facilities, Bowen is perfectly positioned to become a key player in Queensland’s maritime future."
This commitment is part of the LNP’s plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country back on track.
